Each year there are unfortunate accidents while children are out trick or treating with their friends and family. The majority of these accidents could easily be prevented by following a few simple rules to help keep everyone safe when you head out on Halloween night.

  • Make sure children know they need to practice extra caution when crossing the road. Employ an adult to help if possible.
  • Wear reflective clothing or carry something that lights up in order to make yourself more visible.
  • Make sure at least one adult will be heading out with the children.
  • If you are going to be driving anywhere, keep your headlights on so people can see you and so that you can see them.
  • Drive slower than normal, especially on the side streets where children are present.
  • Always makes sure to check your children's candy when you return home to make sure it is safe for them to eat.
